Attorney Marcy Resnik and Family Receive “Guardian of Israel” Award from Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center

Fort Lauderdale divorce attorney and commercial litigator Marcy S. Resnik, Esq. and her family were recently awarded the “Guardian of Israel” award from the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center in Miami.

Ms. Resnik, her husband Barry I. Resnik, MD, and two of their children, were recognized before an audience of 1,500 for their “outstanding leadership, dedication and commitment to the Synagogue, the community, and the State of Israel.”

Harvard Law Professor Alan M. Dershowitz, a staunch supporter and global advocate for Israel, presented the award to the Resniks and several other families. Professor Dershowitz inaugurated the Guardian of Israel Award in 1993.

Recipients of the prestigious award are visionaries who are chosen for their efforts to preserve Jewish traditions and heritage and to ensure Jewish continuity through the education of children.

Attorney Howard Kahn participated in the KID Inlet Challenge, a 62-mile bicycle ride that started at the Bahia Mar Beach Resort & Yachting Center in Fort Lauderdale, traveled up to Boynton Beach Inlet, and returned to Bahia Mar. The event was for the benefit of Kids In Distress, a leading force and authority in prevention of child abuse, preservation of families, and treatment of children who have been abused and neglected. Last year, KID served more than 7,535 children and their families.

Attorney Howard Kahn runs the Chicago Marathon
Attorney Howard Kahn ran the Chicago Marathon on October 9, 2011. He joined 35,755 other runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries for the 26.2 mile course that provided a scenic tour of Chicago and its many neighborhoods. The race started and ended in beautiful Grant Park located on Lake Michigan, affectionately referred to as Chicago’s “front yard.”

After prevailing at trial on behalf of its client, a commercial landlord, Kahn & Resnik, P.L. was successful in having the trial court’s ruling affirmed on appeal before the Fourth District Court of Appeal, which found that substantial, competent evidence supported the trial court’s finding that no modification of the lease had occurred. Marcy S. Resnik was elected President of the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center (ATJC) in April 2011. She is now part of the leadership team for the Center that consists of Chairman of the Board William W. Landa, Rabbi Jonathan Berkun, Cantor David Muchnick and Executive Vice President, Dr. Amir Baron. Prior to her new position, Marcy served as the ATJC’s membership Vice President and has been a member of the Synagogue’s Board of Directors for the past 15 years, holding several positions. Marcy has also served on the Board of Advisors for the Pine Crest School, Fort Lauderdale Campus, as well as President of the Mothers’ Club. Read more.
